Default Social Security Problem Due to a Dismissed Warrant

Can Social Security hold a dismissed warrant against me in withholding benefits?
I was able to get the benefits restarted thru the appeals process, but now they want me to repay benefits received. The warrant was dismissed with prejudice. Yes, I did receive benefits while the warrant was in effect--but was able--after learning about it, to get it dismissed in 22 days after verifing the it was there.
    Any ideas?

If you received benefits to which you were not legally entitled, yes, the SSA will expect you to pay them back (or deduct them from ongoing benefits). Odds are their communication to you described how you might file a hardship appeal - what did the letter say?
