My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Hawaii
2007 I filed for bankruptcy and won. In my paper work I had $8400 exempted, from the sale of my condo in NJ.
In Dec of 2008, I was asked questions by the trustee like how much I put into the condo remodeling, upgrades ect...Then he left me with the impression that I will be receiving my $8400 soon.
A few month ago, I decided to see what happen to the $8400 because I never received it. The same trustee said I was not entitle to it.
The past week I got a lawyer to handle another problem I have and when he was looking over my papers for my bankruptcy he asked me if I have gotten my $8400. I replied no and he said he look in to it. He called me yesterday and said that they acknowledge making a mistake and that they paid out 3 different attorneys with the money and I will get my $8400 as soon as they retrieve the money from them.
My question: Can and should I take this matter further and ask for interest or sue in some kind of way? or should I just accept my blessing and be happy to finally get what was coming to me, the $8400?
