    Default Worried About Refund Fraud

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oklahoma.

Hi, this is my first post, and hopefully my last. 3 months ago, in March, I bought a Nintendo Wii system from Toys R Us for my grandparents. It was obviously opened, and we needed a replacement. I already had a Wii, and it was damaged and out of warranty, and seeing as how the serial number was on the outside of the box, I decided to return my Wii, with a different serial number. I was really nervous and decided to try and black out the serial on the Wii, and no matter what it was still visible. I still decided to return it, and they refunded it to my debit card. My questions are, 1) what are the odds of being caught for return fraud, 2) what would the penalties be (it cost $199) and 3) any time frame for how long it will be before I know? Thank you so much for your help!

Wow way to leave a trail leading directly back to you lol. I guess it depends if that Wii was resold. In that case the new owner would notice it is broken, return and someone might notice the serial numbers do not line up. They might not. The only thing for sure is you will be paranoid in the interim. A bit of advice, If you can't afford it work, save, buy. It's the tried and true method.

They do have a good year to file charges.

Wait and sweat, and learn from your mistake.

Thanks for the advice. My friend that works there said it wasn't resold and was returned. So does that help or hurt the odds? And thank you for the replys
