The lawyer agreed to give the guarantee in writing. My friend has not gone ahead with it yet though because of the money concern.
What I guess I'm really wondering is if the fact that it is a City Attorney hearing, rather than D.A., is really something that makes the case so easy that a lawyer can guarantee dismissal. My friend said that two different lawyers both practically laughed when he told them it was a City Attorney hearing, and both said they'd never had a City Attorney hearing end in anything but a dismissal.
What do you think about that? Is there something about a City Attorney hearing that signals shoddy case for the prosecution? The police that filed the charges know I have multiple witnesses and for all they know I even have video tape.
