Default Very Personal Info About Me Posted by Another

    I live in NY state.
Someone posted very personal information about me, of a damaging nature, on their (California) website. Giving my full name - first middle and last.
It's about what I was like as a very young child, implying there was something seriously defective about me. She mentions a "nervous breakdown" I had as a teenager.
Is this illegal? Or likely to be against the acceptable use policies of the web host?
If I go looking for a job and they google my name and find this online, it would be prejudicial.
Do I have privacy rights about information that's so personal?
I know she wouldn't take it down if I asked. She doesn't have my best interests at heart. She would likely get more explicit on her website if I asked her to remove the stuff.

    Your name isn't private.

If she's telling the truth, then there's likely little you can do.

You might want to at least run it by an attorney though who may send a "cease and desist" letter. Quite often this is enough to "encourage" the person to remove the information.

    Is this illegal?
As long as it is true information, no, it's not.

Or likely to be against the acceptable use policies of the web host?
Probably not. You would need to check with the TOS of the site to which the information was posted. Some venues, such as LiveJournal, require as a condition of use that you do not ever post someone else's personal information, lest you lose your account and be permanently banned. Others actively encourage such shenanigans.

Even though it could be considered personal medical information?

She's not obligated by law to keep your medical information private.

Unless she's a medical worker disclosing information about you obtained in a medical setting, no. Just like I could post that someone's hair is brown, their disposition is calm, their left leg was in a cast, and their complexion is marred by heavy acne, people can give their impressions of what they've witnessed, even if they're wrong.
