Greetings all-
I was recently contacted by a collection attorney by phone and by mail. I have not, as yet, made any response. The last payment made on this account was in 7/00. I am residing in a state where the SOL is 6 years.
The amount being demanded is about $2000 more than I recall spending on the credit card.
Do I answer these people and request validation or do I ignore them? Does contact refresh the SOL? Is it true that requesting validation incites most attorneys to file suit?
I have been in the process of paying off old debts for years and would willingly pay what I spent were it requested. That NOT being the case, and the statute running as it is...I am needing some advice.
Thanks
