My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California.
I live in a nice 10-unit apartment building and we have one tenant who decided to have a garden. He built a rather large set of boxes in a small area between the building and garage. He has put a lot of time in it, and nobody really minds.
But now he's flying into rages when he suspects any of us might have pushed his boxes or spilled water on his vegetables, in fact flew into a rage, accusing the caretaker of drowning his plants. They almost had a physical fight.
The caretaker did not touch his plants but had to use a hose to clean a bit of the area.
My question is this: The tenant is acting like he owns this little area, has never asked other tenants permission and is becoming extremely possessive of an area we all have to walk through.
What rights does he have and what can we do to simply let him know that we don't have to change our lives because of his garden.
