    Post Shoplifting Diversion Option

My question involves criminal law for the state of: CA
    PandorasBox,
I've read about your case and I was wondering whether any kind of diversion programs was an option for you? Since it was your first offense, it could have been, but from what you said it seems it wasn't. Why? Is it because of age (I'm in the same age range) or because you signed papers in the store admitting guilt? I will be hiring an attorney soon, but now am just trying to collect info on my own.
Thanks a lot in advance for your response.

I'm not sure about her case but not all courts have or are willing to offer diversion. I see in other thread besides diversion, reducing a misdemeanor to an infraction can be an option. A lawyer would be able to discuss your plan of attack.

    Hi,

This was my first (and only) offense.

I did sign the admission of guilt in the LP office, had to write what I did in my own words and sign it, plus the Trespass forms.

Not all areas offer Diversion programs. My area didn't, and I believe that Diversions are usually for people younger than myself (36 at the time).

My lawyer got me a plea deal, with the charged reduced to Disorderly Person.
