My question involves traffic court in the State of California.
I was cited in May of 2009 for exceeding posted speeds in the city of Beverly Hills, CA. I paid the ticket after an extension, and successfully completed a city-sanctioned and approved online traffic school course, which further stated that a proof of traffic school completion would be sent directly to the LA Superior Court. The only action that I was recommended was to call the LA Superior Court to ensure that the certificate was received. Seeing as how trying to call and speak to any human voice on the phone at the LA Superior Court traffic system is a crapshoot, I wasn't able to do this.
I might also add that I completed the course well (3-4 weeks) within a reasonable time for shipping/faxing of the certificate to the court.
You can imagine my surprise when, while switching insurance companies, the pesky citation hasn't cleared, a moving violation for the ticket was noted, and the requisite point on my DMV record stands. I therefore lose my "Good Driver" discount, and watched my 6-month rates rise nearly $500.
When I logged online to the appropriate website to investigate, here is what I found:
Citation Number:
_

What does "TIP" mean, and how do I fix this? Do I speak to the DMV or go to the Court?
