My question involves criminal law for the state of: Minnesota
I received a ticket for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia about 2 weeks ago. Then just yesterday I received another ticket for just marijuana possession but he gave me a juvenile citation and said I would have to go to court. I'm 17, live in Minnesota, get good grades, and don't have anything else on my record . I received a letter saying I have to go to court for the first one and now I don't know whats going to happen because both things happened so close to each other. Each time I only had a gram or two. Does the fact that this is a decriminalized state and it's a petty misdemeanor have anything to do with whether I will be actually convicted? I really don't want to have to put I was convicted for marijuana charge on every application and scholarship I apply for. Also do I really need a lawyer for this? On the letter it said that I do NOT have the right to have a lawyer appointed to me if I cannot afford one.
