Default Adding Your Name To An Existing Credit Card To Boost Credit

Good morning! I am from South Carolina. I have read on other sites that someone can request that a persons name be added to thier cc account and a card be issued in thier name. Supossedly this creates a new line of credit with all the past payment history. Does this work? I need a to boost points for a mortgage.

Default Re: Adding name on existing CC

Having your name added to somebody else's credit card as an authorized signer will not improve your credit, as you wouldn't be using your credit. You have to get a credit card where you are responsible (or jointly responsible) for paying the bills if you want it to affect your credit score.
