Question Is a GED Equivalent to a High School Diploma

Hi. I live in Texas and I have applied for a position in a school district. They were hiring for an Executive Secretary for the Superintendent and one of the requirements was a high school diploma. I have a GED and they told me that they are not accepting it. They are specifically asking for a high scool graduate since they said it is an educational institution. Is there anything that I can do about it? Please respond...thanks

It seems unlikely. I can't find any authority which would prevent them distinguishing between a high school diploma and a GED within the context of employment. You may wish to consider looking into an associate's degree program or a suitable certification program, the completion of which could give you a higher credential than a high school diploma.
