My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: NY
A/C (wall units, not window units) has been broken for over 2 weeks. Repair is taking a long time because parts are on backorder.
I realize that air conditioning is a luxury, but should I still have to pay $6000 for an apartment that doesn't have functional A/C?
The clause in my lease says that appliances shall be fixed in a reasonable time period, but no deduction in rent will be granted.
What is a reasonable amount of time? This exact thing happened last year to our air conditioners and it took 2 months to fix.
Are air conditioners considered appliances? Can I consider this a utility?
Are there any options I have? Rent abatement seems too harsh.
