I got caught shoplifting today from a Sephora in California. It's my first offense. I took a $19 item. I got out of the store but one of the workers with a security guard chased me down. I gave them back the item but he said I had to go back and fill out paperwork. I gave them all my info (name, address, phone number, social security). Then I caught a lucky break because the police couldn't come right away, so I had to sign a paper banning me from ever coming back and a civil demand paper.

So I was just wondering, is there any way I can keep this from my parents? I'm 19 but I'm at home for summer break. I'm going to pay the civil demand on my own and everything but the letter is going to be sent to my parents' house... Is the legal office name or whatever going to be on the envelope they send me? He asked me to confirm my house number a bunch of times... They're not going to call my house or anything? I'm so scared of my parents finding out... Help please!

I know, "Don't do the crime if you don't want to do the time." But I'm totally ashamed and can honestly say I will never ever do it again.
