My spouse and I lived in NC, then separated and I moved to SC. After the separation occurred, I started dating someone in SC. My new significant other didn't enter the picture until my spouse and I decided to divorce, which was a mutual decision based on what I think could reasonably be called "irreconcilable differences," as celebrities often say.... So my new SO in no way had anything to do with the breakup of the marriage, which I would say was doomed from the start.
I know alienation of affection is a legitimate claim in NC, and I'm pretty sure it's not in SC, but I have read a couple of cases in which angry spouses in NC sued SC residents for it, provided the angry spouse could prove it lead to the breakup of the marriage. That would put my mind to rest, except that my ex recently became extremely angry with me (we had been on moderately friendly terms until then), and I think suspects me of dating someone.
Given those circumstances, do you think I have anything to worry about?
