Does the notice of 3 Day Pay or Quit have to have specific verbiage or can it just say you're late on rent?

I've learned that here in CA 3 day quit or pay and 30 day termination of rental from landlord need specific formats/information on them.
I have a question as I'm new to forum and don't see how to post one. Is slipping either or both such notices under door of tenant who is in the room at the time and in and out thereafter, adequate service of such notice?
The document linked above describes the required content, at the specified page numbers.
Yes there is specific language that must be in a three day notice to pay rent or quit. The required language is set forth by statute. For example a three day notice to pay or quit must tell you where to pay, who to pay it too, the days and hours during the business day of his/her availability, and a phone number where he or his agent can be reached. There are some more requirements but you get the idea. Hope that helps
In answer to the following question: "I have a question as I'm new to forum and don't see how to post one. Is slipping either or both such notices under door of tenant who is in the room at the time and in and out thereafter, adequate service of such notice?" Notices may be served by personal service, subsituted service or by posting and mailing. I believe the statute that controls it is California Code of Civil Procedure §1162. Hope that helps
