So back on topic, how is mileage figured?

What are you specifically asking? Because I've already told you how to track mileage (log book for each trip there and back and dates) as well as fuel. Fill up before you leave, fill up when you get back home. On return, fill up before you leave home, fill up when you return home after drop off.

Or are you asking specifically how the court will credit you?

He's asking how the court will credit him (i.e., how much the court will pay him per mile). I believe the court may credit him based on receipts provided, rather than mileage. I may be wrong though.
