Default Statute of Limitation for Theft of Less Than $200

My question involves criminal law for the state of: CALIFORNIA

Its an ipod that I stole from a friend about 3 years ago. We dont talk anymore because of other reasons...Suffice to say i learnt my lesson and will never do it again, but what is the statute of limitation on this one? Does this mean that after this time, even if they find it was me or the police are involved, they wont be able to charge me with the theft?
I am naturally very paranoid, so plz help me with this one. thanks!

Assuming this would be charged as a misdemeanor, the statute of limitations should be one year.

If this person did not call the police three years ago, why the sudden paranoia? Did you ever consider returning the iPod?

What does "2 hours ago - 4 days left to answer" mean?

Actually i was in a bind for money back then and stole the ipod and sold it so no chance of returning it...
But after I got the money I bought her a new iPod and gave it as a gift...
The paranoia is because I was recently diagnosed with anxiety disorder so I get extremely anxious about stuff so posted in this forum to ease up some anxiety.

Regarding your answer does that mean that after the limitation period has passed they cant press charges?

    Thanks!
