    Arrow Iowa Emancipation at 17

I am 17 and living in the state of Iowa. I have done some research on the Iowa laws and have found no emancipation law. Does this mean I cannot get emancipated or does it mean that I must attain emancipation under a different form?

Why do you think you should be emancipated?

Because there is much strain in the house that cannot be resolved. Mainly due to my father. Both my mom and I have tried to get the communication open between us for the last couple years but it isn't working. I also cannot stand to live here when the few conversations we have a day end up in arguments. I love them dearly, which is why I want to leave now so that our relationship has a chance to repair itself. They are very overprotective so spending a week at a friend or relatives house is out of the question. (I tried). I know it isn't a cure all, but I am certain it will help our relationship be strong once more.

That's because there are no statutory provisions for the emancipation of minors in the state of Iowa.

Shorter lack of law: No emancipation in your state.
Ok. I was afraid of that. Thank you for your help.

Emancipation is not an option for you.

    Period.

The lack of an emancipation statute in your state means that no emancipation is available.

But even if it were, what you have described is not a valid reason for emancipation.

18 is really not that far away.

It's not everything. Just some things. I'm not going to put everything on here cuz it could get some people into trouble.
And the option of running away. What are the consequences of that?
