14 months ago, I got divorced. My lawyer told me, that my ex wife is NOT entitled to alimony, because this is classified as a short term marriage.
I was married just under 7 years. I have found several websites that say, in effect, that in almost every case, alimony in Massachusetts is NOT awarded, due to the fact that child support is so high. 1 site even said that you have a better chance of winning the lottery, than you have of paying alimony on top of child support.
Unfortunately, I can not find anywhere, in plain english, what a short term marraige consists of ( although I'm pretty sure it's a marriage under 7 years ).
I told my wife I was taking her to court, to modify my visitation rights, and she threatend me with demanding alimony. (She can threaten me all she wants btw, I'm not skeered)
I would like to have all my ducks in a row when I go into court next month. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, and getting a lawyer is out of the question.
They are all snakes, and charge way too much.
