Hi there,
My parents took me to the US when I was 15 on a tourist visa. Back then, there was no fingerprinting when we got in through the airport. I had no idea my family was doing something illegal by overstaying. I graduated from high school and when college time came I got to know I was illegal and unable to get financial aid or any scholarship for my studies. Other things came up; I wasnt able to get a driver's license or work legally. I decided to do the right thing and I left the United States after 8 years there and came back to my country. I am now in my home country, going to college and I plan on visiting the US in the next couple of years or taking a course as an exchange student.
1)Does the Immigration know I overstayed, since I was never fingerprinted at entry and there's nothing on my passport saying I left 8 years after my allowed stay? FYI I had a NY ID and a bank account.
2)Should I try to visit on the same 10 year visa I still have valid or is it better to try to get a new visa when I get married and change my name? I know people who were in the same situation, and were able to visit the US no problem on a new visa after they got married and changed names.
3)I must say I do not have any desire to ever live illegaly in the US again, but as we all know, the US is the center of everything and I want to be able to visit and/or study there in the future.
Thanks a lot.
