Default Whats My Chances of Getting Emancipated

I just turned 16 years old and i have been waiting for that for sometime. My mother past away this last summer which forced me to go live with me dad who has a third degree assault on me already. He still continues to show his ways of anger by pushing me. He is 6'4 and uses it to push me around. He has never really supported me or my brother. My mother before she passed away took him to court for lack of child support. Before my mom passed away, we all lived in the same town. But he moved 4 hours away to go live with his rich girlfriend. So me and my brother stopped seeing him. When he would come to pick us up, we would refuse. My mom left me behind alot of money in her will. Enough for college and to live on. Plus i will be getting a job soon. Oh and i have many close family friends i could stay with. So what are my chances in your opinion?

    Washington State, im sorry.
And what happened when CPS investigated the assault was, i was removed from both homes, my mom was going through a hard time. She had her bile duct cut in half by a doctor who made a mistake. But my Mom got us back about a month later. And me and my Dad havent gotten along ever since.

What else do you need to know about the investgation with CPS?

And what job do you have that will allow you to pay 100% of your own rent, food, clothes, utilities, insurance, medical care, transportation, school fees and supplies, etc. etc. etc.? While still going to school and taking those classes and getting better than average grades? (The sports might have to go by the wayside.)

You see, emancipation does not mean that you stop living with your parents and go to live with someone else or another relative. Emancipation means that you, yourself, are capable of self-support. Even with relatives lined up to let you live with them, unless you can prove to the satisfaction of the judge that you will not become a burden on the taxpayers should your relatives get hit by a bus, or kick you out, or get transferred to New Zealand, emancipation is a non-starter.

Are you able to tap into your inheritance now or do you have to wait until you are 18?

For the wiser members of this forum: My rationale is that if OP can access it now, than that would suffice as income and he/she might be able to pay rent to a relative. Is that feasible?

Yes, i could access the money when i become a legal adult. There is enough money to live on for two years and go to a good college for four years plus.

Hence it's a non issue. You cannot access the money until you are a legal adult.

    Catch 22.

Not necessarily, no. It really does depend on how everything was worded/arranged.

Hon, you're not going to become emancipated. It's just not going to happen. K?
