My question involves criminal records for the state of: New York

In 2005 I pleaded guilty for harassment in the 2nd degree with a conditional dischargre of one year, since then I havent had any police contact or been convicted of anything since then. This was during a lenghty custody battle, in which a cell phone was thrown. However the person decided to have me arrested 2 months after the initial incident. I recently applied for a job with the federal goverment, and answered no to the ? have I been convicted within the last 10years of any misdemanors, firearm explosive violations or felonies or all other offenses. I thought becauase I was told during the time, my charge was a violation and a conditional discharge after a yr, I didnt have to disclose this information during employment opportunities. Is this correct, or should I have answered yes. What options do I have when or if this comes up during the backgound check?
