Default Security Deposit Retained Due to Early Move-Out

My question involves a security deposit in the State of: Florida

So heres the deal I was recently in a one year lease through a branch of United Country Realty in my area. They just managed the property they did not own it. But anyways signed a year long lease got ready to buy a house, called the Realtor told her we would be out by May 1 so we signed on our house in April. The Realtor agreed with me that April was the last month of my lease. So we officially get out of the house and return the keys by May 4. We were to be billed (prorated) for those four days. We receive a letter and turns out our contract was not up until the end of May not the end of April. They already had someone lined up to rent because of our early notice and agreement but they did not move in until May 17 so guess who got charged for 17 days of prorated rent...... I did. The Realtor said she tried to talk to the homeowner out of it but he would not budge. MY QUESTION IS I know I was under contract but didn't she drop the ball by not even looking when our lease was up. Should she not at least pay half of that 17 days and I the other half for being an idiot. If so how do I go about getting this done.

    Thanks

    Default Re: Security Deposit

By "she", you're talking about your real estate agent or your landlord? If you're talking about your real estate agent, did you give your agent a copy of your lease? Why didn't you look at the lease yourself?

Your real estate agent may have "agreed" with you because you told your agent "Our lease ends on May 1" and your agent had no information to contradict your assertion and thus took you at your word.
