Marijuana Possession in New Hampshire

This is regarding the state of New Hampshire. I was arrested for driving with a suspended license, which really is a miscommunication between state DMVs, but the police searched my car and found less than an ounce of marijuana.

My question is this: I am very nervous about what the next steps are. I understand New Hampshire has some of the harshest available penalties for marijuana possession. What is most common sentence/most likely sentence received? This is a first time offense for me and I have no prior criminal record.

The maximum penalty for misdemeanor possession of marijuana in any amount in New Hampshire is $2000 and up to 1 year in jail.

Typically, first offenders don't go to jail.
