Default Re: Halp with a Casr for Emancipation

I'm not sure which part of "it's not going to happen" is so difficult to understand?

Are you able to pay for rent, utilities, health insurance, food, stay in school and fully support yourself?

    Not. Going. To. Happen.

Emancipation is for those teens who, through no fault of their own (parents died in a car wreck, for example), find themselves in a position where they need the legal ability to sign up for utilities, sign a lease, get medical care etc.

Or, the likes of Macauley Culkin and Miley Cyrus. It's NOT for teens who are just plain old miserable at home.

    It's not going to happen.

I've been trying to make things work at home and no matter what i do nothing works. It's constant fighting and tension and now my mother is making me move away from where i've lived my whole life and i don't want to move.
    Ahh... there it is.

The REAL crux of the story.

Your mean old mommy is making you move away from your boyfriend and you don't want to move.

You think that you should, instead, shack up with your current boyfriend and live under his parents' roof.

    NOT A REASON FOR EMANCIPATION.

I know I dont have a strong case but I need a way out. And I'm mature enough that i can hold my own when my mother isn't watching over me. I'm constantly around older people and the way I think, talk, act, ect... everyone thinks I'm older then I really am. I'm mature enough i'm just not going to be making enough money on my own for a while...
I am really mature and will have a job someday.

    NOT A REASON FOR EMANCIPATION.

but why can't I let others help support me? I'm still finding a way to live on my own. Thats like saying the government can't give out well fare checks because those people can't live on their own without financial aid from someone else. How does that work?
You will not be emancipated so that you can collect money from the government.

You can't let others support you because you already have someone legally liable for that support. Further, what happens when you and boyfriend break up?

You don't understand this... you can stomp your foot all you want. You can scream that it isn't fair until you are blue in the face.

You can continue to make your mom feel like crap because she is moving you away from the "love of your life".

    NONE OF IT MATTERS.

Emancipation is for children that NEED it... not that WANT it. Children that MUST have it to survive.

No, a broken heart cause you have to move away doesn't count.

You had best go apologize to your mother and start packing.

im not saying i'd live off the government. im saying others do. what im saying is i want to get a job pay for all my own things and then move out in less then 2 years. and it is possible to make enough money to live on my own. i could easily go work for my boyfriend and make $25 an hour. and emancipation from what i read is for anyone under 18 or 19 who can support themselves.

    You're still not getting it.

A judge is NOT going to emancipate you so that you can live with your boyfriend. Even if.

A judge is much too smart than to miss the fact that if you are "working" for your boyfriend and getting paid $25 an hour, what is REALLY happening is that your boyfriend is supporting you.

Emancipation is NOT for "anyone under 18 who can support themselves". It is for those minors who have a VALID NEED for emancipation and have ALREADY demonstrated their ability to support themselves.

You do NOT have a valid need for emancipation and you have NOT demonstrated your ability to support yourself.

You. Are. Not. Going. To. Be. Emancipated.

    Get used to it.
