My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan
Hi everyone. I turned 20 in April and I stole a bottle of liquor that was $12 at Meijers. I got a call from my dad that the police were at his house and he told me to bring what I took to the police. So I brought the bottle back that was unopened still and the cop arrested me , fingerprinted me, and got bailed out for $100.
I was charged with Retail Fraud under $200 and got an MIP for transporting the alcohol (wasn't expecting the MIP at all because I thought you could if it was unopened). Now I have to call for a court date.
I really don't know what to do because I've never been in any trouble like this before, my record is clean, and I don't know if I should plea not guilty/guilty?.
Also I was caught on camera, they have pictures of me walking out and everything (not with the bottle exposed I had it tucked in so nobody could see it).. I didn't see all of them but they probably have my license plate from my car.
