I have consulted the MD DOL web site you indicated which basically tells people that they have to either go to small claims court and file on their own or have a lawyer do it. I have also read that the DOL division that used to handle wage claims - the Office of Employment Standards -- has been closed since July 2005 due to state budget cuts. I am wondering if you know how to get in touch with any state government office that could help with a wage claim.

I do have an attorney now, but he has taken the route of trying to negotiate first and sue later -- things are moving very slowly. I have been insisting that the law suiit be filed. And as I have already invested a lot of time and money, I'd rather not change lawyers unless absolutely necessary. I was thinking that in the worst case, I will have to go it alone or look for some kind of assistance from the state. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
