Its theft no matter how you look at it. And depending on what store you return the item to they can look up the receipt number to cross reference the price paid.

Well greed will always get you in the end...

If you were to just be happy with the stores first mistake and didn't let your greed take over, you would not be here right now.

But your here and will do the best we can to give you advice.

    1. What are the options of what can happen and how likely are they?
    2. Would I be able to repay the overage money back and not go to jail?
    3. Do community service? Not have this on a criminal record especially as a felon?

    1. your options are to sit and wait from a call or a knock at the door from the detective that is handling this case. That's about all you can do. Do not speak to them without your attorney present. If you do have an attorney I would make an arrangement to have a discussion about what you have done and let him advise you to what to do when that knock doe's come.

    2. Yes you WILL HAVE TO repay the stores loss and then some, this will come in restitution and fines. But not going to jail on the other hand is hard to say, that's up to the judge. Jail time is on the table for this charge but being that you haven't been in trouble before and I assume that you have little ones at home, that will help the judge determine if you will benefit from just getting probation or not.

    3. You will most likely do community service and there is no way around not having a criminal record. Just hope and pray that they keep whatever there going to charge you with at a municipal level.

And if I'm following the story right then you made 11 returns at $400.00 each ($4,400.00) and the 12th return got denied.
