In a local Albertson store I ate a 99 cent candy bar in the store and left without paying for it. A person from the store caught me and grabbed my arm taking me to his office and I didn't resist or anything! The cops were not called and charges were not pressed but he said I should expect a civil demand letter soon.
I also signed a paper that stated I cannot trespass to Alberston for a entire year. He said even if parked in the parking lot, I could be arrested.
I know what I did was wrong but is it really necessary that I receive a civil demand letter? I am an adult with no criminal record but he said I should expect a fine of at least $200 plus the $1 dollar... Should I pay the fine? I even offered to pay him $20 dollars on the spot for the trouble I caused him, but he said you deserve to pay more.
And also what does this no trespassing agreement I signed mean? Should I expect a letter in the mail and am I not allowed to entire that specific store or all stores state/nation wide? What would realistically happen to me if I did come back to the store?
Thanks
