Post Lawsuit to Go in Default Within 6 Days

I have chosen not to answer the lawsuit for an old credit card debt, California, I had 30 days to respond. That time will be up in about 6 days. I have decided to pay, since im paying so close to the default date of the lawsuit, does any one have some tips on how i need to send the money, and how to make sure they drop the lawsuit as they promised. And is there any thing else I have to follow up on to make sure they keep there part of the deal? Also to make sure it clears up on my credit report, any tips there?
I would be very greatfull for great tips, to make sure there are no mistakes.
    Thank you

Well the clock is ticking so you better move fast, once you have a judgment it will be on your reports for 10 years. You can prevent this if you are able to beat the clock, but the original charge off and / or original delinquent account may still report for up to 7 years. But its the judgment you need to avoid at this point in time. Alot of banks won't even give you a savings account once there is a judgment on your reports.

Well I filed my answer with the court, and had it served today, I just made the deadline. Does anyone know what happens next? Do you just wait?

You'll get a notice to appear, and often times the plaintiff's legal counsel will offer you a settlement on the court date or before.
