I am a property management employee. I was living on site at a property where I was the assistant manager. I made $15.00 plus a free apt. Well Not free it was part of my compensation package. If I did not live on site I would have made more money. I was given a rent comp in place of wages. I singed a lease agreement for MTM tenancy @ $0.00. As well as an employee agreement that said I would have to move with-in one week if employment ended ( lease said 30 days). My offer letter said my hr wage was $15.00 and that deductions for housing would be made bi-weekly. I never saw the deductions on my paystub but I know I would have made at least 10k more if i did not live in the apartment. When I was terminated I was given 2 weeks to move ( other white 'ee was given 30 days. I am black). I believe that was discrimination but was it illegal??? Was I there by license or tenancy?
