Hi all,
I'm still confused (and shaky) about the whole process of applying for my citizenship. I'm a rookie at paperwork and I would like everything to be smooth, fine and without any problems.
I received my green card based on marriage to a US citizen. My conditional 2-year green card was granted on 02/02/08. My 10 year green card (after 2 years I removed my conditional status) was granted to me on 02/05/10. Next year will be 3 years of staying in the marriage to the same US citizen. Been a good resident. No crimes, not even a single traffic ticket.
My question is, when can I start filing a petition for my citizenship? Is it 3 months before the date stated on my 10-year green card (02/05/2010) ? And how will the process go? Anyone with experience on this? Will the INS send you a letter telling you where to go to take an exam? Will you know right away you pass the exam in the same day? And will they send you a letter telling you where to go take an oath? Do you have to go through any more interviews with the INS agent and your spouse? And what is a priority date?
As you see I don't know anything about the process. So I'm very grateful if somebody could tell me what I should expect and how everything goes. Thank you.
