My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: NY
There's a loooong story with this but to make it as short as possible there is it:
Signed a year lease for 1 bedroom apartment in a building in Brooklyn.
First night there, half hour after me and my wife went to sleep we start itching like crazy, turnt he lights on and see bedbugs EVERYWHERE - bed, mattrass, floor, unpacked bags.....
Landlod did call exterminator the next day. When i told him i'm moving out give me my deposit + first month rent back he said "no, i called exterminator, that's all i'm supossed to do"
After lot and LOTS and LOOOOTS of phone calls and him changing his story from "no" to "i'll give it back to you when next tenants move in" to "i'll give it back to you when next tenants move in minus the time apartment was empty" to finally, ok, i'll give it back to you minus 10 days u occupied it.
He did give my money back (-10 days).
First night my and my slept in my car, rest of the nights at my mother's house. We both work and stopped by that bedbug infested place after work to pick stuff up, straight to the dry cleaners and to my mother's house.
Sooo..... How should i go about getting my 10 days back and most importantly dry cleaner bills and get money back for the mattres and furniture i had to throw out, moving expences (truck/gas/tolls) back and forth???
And what are my chances in court????
