No I am the apartment manager and I work in the office. He is onsite maintenance. We both have our own set of responsibilities.

I had to have the office open from 9am to 1pm. And he worked 7am to 1pm, Mon-Fri on both.

Are you getting free rent as well? I am assuming that 400.00 a month is not your only compensation?

How is your boyfriend being paid? By cheque for the whole amount? Or via payroll, with deductions taken out?

Yes the rent is included as well. He is paid via direct deposit and deductions were taken out. Although the rent was not shown on the check anywhere. I do not know why people are so upset at me right now. I did not know that it was the same people on every one of these site. I was just trying to opinions on this. I do not understand why people are getting so upset. We are in a bad situation here and we are just trying to figure things out. I did not mean no harm.

Nobody is upset at you. Just calm down and help the folks responding help you by providing the information they need to help figure this out. It sounds like there is something wrong going on so answer their questions the best you can so they can give you the best answers they can.

some people post on multiple forums but not everyone does.

If you post on multiple sites, you will irritate people. And why you post on multiple sites, I cannot fathom - don't you know that the law is the same no matter what site you go to?

That said, your employer is paying you illegally. You both must be paid, separately. And the value of the rent must be shown on your paystubs - part of it on your paystubs and part of it on your BF's paystub.

Your legal recourse for this is to contact your state or federal DOL.

And no, before you start posting this all over the internet, the answer is going to be exactly the same everywhere. So don't bother, don't waste your time or anyone else's.

yes, I know the law is the law, no matter where you ask it. But I have gotten different answers as well. And I have posted on one site before and never got an answer. That is another reason I posted on more than one.

The answers may be different, but the one I gave you is the correct answer. You can either go with the correct answer or keep trawling for incorrect answers. Your choice. I'm outta here.

Well Im sorry, I didnt see a post where it was answered. I have only seen questions (which I have answered) and people upset because I posted on multiple sites. So I guess, I will just go with the other post, where they said more than likely it is illegal. Apparently I am worthless on here too...

Eerelations, I take umbrage at your statement. First, those that post regularly know that there are many cross posters at various sites. People asking a question often do not

i see asking the same question on multiple sites no different than taking your car to several garages for a diagnoses of a problem. Unless the car owner knows the same mechanic works at all the shops it is simply to get as many opinions as possible. Especially with the law there are often no solid right or wrong answers. I see absolutely nothing wrong with posting on multiple sites seeking an answer to their question. Unless they are regular posters, they have no idea a lot (and mind you there are posters that do not post on multiple sites so there is at least those fresh minds involved at each forum) nor will they know where they might get the best answer.

I think you were a little hard on the op simply because they asked on more than one forum.

While I don't agree with you being chastised for posting on multiple sites, taking an immature position and pouting is not a good idea anywhere.
