My question involves defamation in the state of: Illinois
I called up a temporary agency today in order to tell them I was available for work. I applied there last month. While talking to an individual on the telephone, I'm told that I'm ineligible for work due to a receptionist's allegations that I displayed inappropriate behavior, for what I recall. The inappropriate behavior was not discussed, and I was not told about anything. I was completely new to the place when I went there in January of 2014 to register my information with the temporary agency. For what I recall, I had asked about a form and why various aspects were being requested of me: Strictly business. As such, I responded with the belief to the individual who told me about the receptionist that the receptionist had slandered me. Today was the first day I had heard about this issue. I have not seen any emails in relation to it. There was no inquiry as to my culpability. No one asked me if I held the intent to harass. It appears someone made up bullshit about me. Furthermore, as I'm a neuroscientist, I could just as well argue that I understand and am able to analyze states of mind (call myself an expert), say that the receptionist held the intent to defame, and bring the issue to court.
Was I slandered? I believe so.
