    He can't do both.

So, what have you been served with?
Papers say he wants my name removed. But I know he is also going to try to sue me for child support.
Any insight into these procedures would be helpful. It doesnt make sense to me that you can remove the birth mother from the birth certificate. That is the mother the child came from and how would he be able to sue me for money if he takes away all of my rights. This is beyond rediculous, this man is out to hurt me again after so many years.

Are we talking about a stepparent adoption proceeding?
No he is the birth father and I am the birth mother. He threated my life many years ago and took my son from me. Now he wants to remove my name and sue me.

I've heard of paternity disputes, but not so much maternity disputes.

He can easily get you to pay child support; why aren't you paying now?

He can't have you removed from the birth certificate. A birth certificate is a legal documentation of parentage. It is not a paper used to wage war on baby-mama because baby-daddy is angry.

Parents' names are only removed if they aren't actually the parents, or changed entirely in the case of some adoptions.

I wasn't paying because he treated my life, had me sign off my rights, and then I lost all contact. I haven't seen my son in over 10yrs. I've tried a few times in the past to get rights to my son and was not able to.

Ok thank you for this encouragement. I believe he's angry because my daughter was able to make contact with my son and talked to him.

had me sign off my rights
Are you saying your parental rights were terminated? Or that you were not awarded any sort of custody or visitation?

    The distinction is important.
