I live in CA
When I was younger I was convicted of PC 242/243(A) My question is can I own ammunition if I have a misdemeanor under those charges?
And can I go to gun shows and look at guns?

The Lautenberg Amendment act bans shipment, transport, ownership and use of guns or AMMUNITION by individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence, or who are under a restraining (protection) order for domestic abuse in all 50 states. The act also makes it unlawful to knowingly sell or give a firearm or ammunition to such person.
So you cannot buy or possess ammunition and it would carry a felony charge if you were to be in possession of such.
I'm not sure if you can go to a gun show or not, but if you were to go to a gun show and touch a gun, you are in violation of the Lautenberg act and that will carry a felony charge too.
My advise, stay clear of gun shows, don't even go in the parking lot.
Obviously there is no point to having ammunition if you do not have a gun or one nearby.
If you enjoy federal prison, sure keep ammo on your person, never can tell when you might get stopped and searched.
but my charge was not domestic .....it was a simple push and shove to a friend.
Do your own research then. Look up the charge and see if it precludes gun ownership. I could care less what CA law says.
If not, then you just have an ordinary misdeamnor conviction and you have not lost any of your civil rights.
All we can do here is accept what you tell us. We can't investigate what you say, confirm things with the court record, etc. If you tell us you don't have a disqualifying conviction under the Lautenberg Amendment we can take you at your word.
If you're unsure of your record, you need to investigate its details and consequences.
