Default Good Kid Caught with Drugs and Nunchuks

A friend of mine is in trouble and I was wondering if there is anything you guys could share that could help?

He is a good kid, who is pretty innocent but seeming to be hanging with the wrong crowd. He was pulled over the other day with less than a g of mj, nunchucks,(learning self defense), some pills he purchased thinking it was adderall (but in fact were riddalin and some mdma.

what do you think will happen to him and what should he do in court?

    g(mis)
    nunchucks (felon o.o)
and they booked him for the mdma even though he had no idea it was..

any help would be appreciated as he is a close friend and id hate for his life to be torn over some unlucky decisions

He needs a lawyer. His decisions are criminal, not unlucky. He wouldn't be in any better shape if the pills were adderall than MDMA. These are felonies and in most states they are of equal magnitude.

I suspect from your comments that he has prior felony convictions.
You deleted the name of the state.

What's likely to happen is PRISON.

lol. is this how lawyers talk these days? guilty before innocence? Besides maybe a stop sign ticket or so here or there, he has never been in trouble with the law before.

Would a public lawyer be good enough to handle such a case? Anyone have advise on how to lessen such charges? thanks for the help.

it's so bad your good friend got caught with all those illegal items. I'm sure he wouldn't have had any of them if he knew possessing them was illegal. I bet he get's perfect grades in school and even helps little old ladies across the street.

Is that what you wanted to hear?

Why is it that so often, somebody comes here and starts with:
    Good Kid
and then goes on to give proof that is a lie and gets upset when somebody is blunt about the facts? Your friend is in some serious trouble. These breaches of the law were not accidental nor innocent. He needs the best lawyer he can afford but even then, I suspect the best he will end up with is having some of the charges reduced.

these were not just "unlucky decisions". The only bad luck involved here is your friend getting caught. He chose to break the laws. It had nothing to do with luck.

You were the one who came in here and told us he's guilty. The presumption of innocence applies in court. Here we get to take you at your word.

Then he has a good shot at probation, perhaps even a first offender deferral of some sort for the drug charges, but as you were told he will benefit from legal representation. He will also benefit from taking his drug problem seriously, and being able to demonstrate to the court that he's trying to clean up his act.

A pubic defender is a criminal defense lawyer. If your friend wants, he has every right to hire a private lawyer.

What state is he in and what specific statutes is he charged with?

As others have stated already, he is potentially in deep doo-doo. If he has no priors and no unusual and aggravating circumstances surrounding the incident, diversion may well be possible if such a program is available in his state and local jurisdiction.

And since no one has stated the obvious... expecting nunchuku, stars, or even samurai swords to be effective in self defense largely depends on their ability to repel bullets (not to mention that their carry is illegal in many states).
