    Default Limits on Poster Size

My question involves civil rights in the State of: Pennsylvania.

    Hi,

I've been working on a study guide for my Communications Law test and there is one I can't figure out. Can anyone help?

    Thanks,
    Jim

"You are a candidate for Temple Student Government. While preparing campaign literature, you learn that the university has a policy that says, “No printed material larger than 8½ x 11 in size may be posted on a campus bulletin board.” You argue that your 10 x 14 posters should be permitted, and that the policy is unconstitutional. If you were to take the question to court, how do you think a judge would rule? (Cite at least two legal arguments, citing points of law.)"

The First Amendment protects freedom of speech from intrusions by the government. It does not apply to private employers and schools have rights to control conduct on their property. They can place reasonable restrictions on expression, such as the size of a poster.

The fictional student should have done his homework before going to court and having his case thrown out.

You need to do your own homework too.

You're going to take a test for a class, and you can't find the answer through studying, research, or reading text books?
