No, they shouldn't keep doing that --- once the case is dropped, its dropped.
Even with a diversion program, you still have to pay court fees, probably attorney fees, stay "clean" for 6-12 months, etc.
To my knowledge, you would need a lawyer to get your record expunged, and it can be a hefty cost.
Never heard of any "shoplifting" classes, why don't you ask your lawyer since he/she knows of it?
If that's the civil demand letter, just pay the fine and you should be ok.
Yeah, there's going to be a civil demand letter in your mail, hope you get the mail that day before your parents. Just pay that fine and you're good to go!
Your best solution is when you first appear in court, ask them for a public defender.
If you get tried as an adult, like $300 for court fees, 20-40 hours of community service, etc. You can try to consult a criminal defense lawyer, some give you free consultations.
Thats odd, the chances of you being banned are very probable. Once you steal, more likely than not, they're going to ban you.
I'm glad everything worked out well for you, do you know what the average cost for a lawyer is?
If you haven't received any notifications after a year, your pretty much safe.
Good question, I hope you'll let me know how it works out. Pretty curious myself.
More than likely not, you are probably going to be charged along with your friend.
Wow, glad everything worked out okay. Good luck!
