This is a common, yet inherently flawed phrase because 'proven guilty' does not negate one's innocence. It could just a easily be 'innocent in spite of being proven guilty.'

We finally agree. That "proven guilty" does not mean a person did the crime. It means he has to do the time. :) And it does not mean the decision/vote is based in truth.
