    Oh well. I have used my mailbox for leaving notes and other things for friends and family if I am not home. No one has ever said a word, including postal delivery people.

    A person use to have to give a street address when getting a P.O.Box. The OP would also have to do an Address Change with current mail.

    If the OP has.the same address as their landlord. I do not see how they could get a PO Box. The landlords mail would also go to the P.O.Box. USPS goes by addresses not by name only.

    I bought a locking mailbox at my previous address and put it on the house. When I moved, I brought it with me and put it up on my house. I have a receipt that proves I own my mailbox.

    I have dealt with my mail being tampered with and stolen. Someone tampering with or stealing another person's mail. Does not mean the person will go to jail or that there will be an investigation.
