Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: How Long Does Police Investigation Take

What about a Public Defender? Are they pretty expedient like criminal defense lawyers or no?
  2. Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Cleared of Criminal - Still Dealing with Civil

No, they shouldn't keep doing that --- once the case is dropped, its dropped.

Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Diversion Program

Even with a diversion program, you still have to pay court fees, probably attorney fees, stay "clean" for 6-12 months, etc.
  4. Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: 9/89 20 Years Ago - Theft by Shoplifting - Still on Record

To my knowledge, you would need a lawyer to get your record expunged, and it can be a hefty cost.
  5. Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Caught Shoplifting - Need Advice for Shoplift Class

Never heard of any "shoplifting" classes, why don't you ask your lawyer since he/she knows of it?

Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: California Civial Shoplifting Law 490.5

If that's the civil demand letter, just pay the fine and you should be ok.
  7. Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Caught Shoplifting at Walmart, They Said No Charges

Yeah, there's going to be a civil demand letter in your mail, hope you get the mail that day before your parents. Just pay that fine and you're good to go!
  8. Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Shoplifting at Carson Pirie Scott in Illinois

Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Costco Petty Theft, What to Do at Court, California

If you get tried as an adult, like $300 for court fees, 20-40 hours of community service, etc. You can try to consult a criminal defense lawyer, some give you free consultations.
  10. Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Just Caught Shoplifting at Macy's in California

Thats odd, the chances of you being banned are very probable. Once you steal, more likely than not, they're going to ban you.

Good question, I hope you'll let me know how it works out. Pretty curious myself.
  14. Retail Fraud / Shoplifting: Re: Got Caught Shoplifting but Never Had Anything Court Today
