Will a Vacated Bench Warrant Show Up on FBI Background Check
A while back I was given a citation for having an open container in public, which is considered a violation in New York, not a crime, and carries a $25 fine. However, I stupidly forgot to send in the check and there was a bench warrant outstanding for almost a year. I later found the original ticket and returned to court voluntarily, where they vacated the warrant and paid the fine.

Now I'm trying to get a job with the Census. I figure because I had the warrant cleared, there was no arrest or fingerprints, it isn't considered a crime and the case was sealed, it shouldn't show up on the FBI background check. But then I read this article about how unreliable the FBI background checks are: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/21/opinion/21wed2.html Apparently they're barring people if they have ANY kind of history. Now I'm afraid that the erroneously check is going to show that I have an outstanding warrant even though it was vacated.

I have no other criminal history. How likely is this to show up?

I doubt that it will show up, but you'll have to wait and see what happens.
