I live in New York City and was accused of stealing 199.00 worth of merch from Lord and Taylor, this was my first offense and I was not arrested. I was however, forced to sign an admission and told that I would receive a civil demand in 7-10 days. I am a single, unemployed mother, and broke as hell. Do they ever reduce civil demand amounts based on circumstances of the accused? Also can they dismiss it, does that ever happen? If it doesnt come in a certain amount of time should I assume that it was tossed? I am sick to my stomach with guilt and traumatized by the entire incident. This will never happen again. someone please answer....
