Husband Wants Adopt My Daughter
My question involves adoption law for the State of:New York
My husband and I are recently married, and he has been in my daughters life since she was 1. She is now 3 years old, and I don't know who her biological father is. I have never tried to find out because due to certain circumstances, I have no idea where to start. There is no father listed on her birth certificate, and I just want to continue on and have my husband have the same legal guardian rights to her as I do, as we are expecting another baby and I want both children to be legally his.
Re: Husband Wants Adopt My Daughter
You ideally need an attorney; a stepparent adoption is not a DIY project. Dad will need to be served (all possible Dads actually) and if you genuinely are unsure who Dad is, this makes it even trickier because you'll likely need to do Service By Publication which is absolutely NOT something you want to try without an attorney.
This is the link to the NY Bar Association Referral Program where you can find an attorney.

is it possible that way if we have a lawyer?
