Going Out of the Country with a FTA in Los Angeles
My question involves traffic court in the State of: California

Hi I have plans to go to Canada in June and have a scheduled court date a week before for a failure to appear on a traffic ticket. Lol, I will be at said court date. My FTA on the traffic ticket was due to emergency surgery. My notice also states I can just pay the bail amount, is this still an option (better option?) although I scheduled a court date? Basically I wanna take care of this ASAP so I have no probs getting my passport approved or getting over the Canadian border. Much thanks!!!!!

If it were me I would go to court with medical records proving my hospitalization.

That's what I plan on doing M.K. :) Really my only worry is my passport being approved in the mean time. Lol, I'm probably over stressing, I have set a court date and it's only a FTA on a traffic ticket but I wanna make sure I'm good to go for my trip in June.

Contact the court and find out if you can bump up your appearance date or just see the judge in order to present your evidence of hospitalization. You seem to have a legitimate reason for FTA'ing on your ticket, so there's no good reason to just pay up.

Thanks Honking, unfortunately due to California's money woes there's now no way to contact the court :(

What about driving down to the court and asking there?

Totally worth a try so I'm doing that Monday but I heard it's appointment only lol but how can you make an appointment without talking to anyone? Lol, still worth a try and worse case scenario I just pay the thing while I'm there and get it done & over with :)
