    Misdemeanor for Petty Theft
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

    Misdemeaner For Petty Theft
I got caught for shoplifting (484 P.C.) a mechandise in Anaheim, CA (Downtown Disney to be more specific). The item is valued at $275, but it was recovered. I am a 23 year old student, and this is my first time getting into trouble with the law. The officer wrote me up the ticket and let me know. I have a question I need help getting answered.

    1) Does anyone know or is there anyway I could get into a Diversion program offered by the City Attorney of Anaheim? or just a diversion program at all? They had it all on camera. As i mentioned before, I am currently attending UCLA and work as a Spanish Instructor. I have a clean record and have never done anything like this. My lack of judgement in the matter and the stress ive been in hindered my thinking. I have not been able to sleep and hardly eat. I know what i did is wrong and it is my responsibilities. My friend said he would get me a lawyer, but I'm still waiting to hear back and I want to get the best answers. Any help would be appreciated.

I know these are alot of questions I am asking but this is my first time I got into any trouble like this and am scared of how my future is going to end up because of a stupid decision I made. Thanks for your time and any advice would be appreciated.

Your best bet for finding out about available diversion programs or the possibility of deferral in any given county, and whether you qualify, is to talk to a criminal defense lawyer in the county where your offense occurred.
