My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan and Illinois
Recently I was traveling thru Michigan and was charged under the local ordinace for posession of marjuanna. Small amount (fit into a small pill bottle) maybe 3-4 grams.
I was told by the police to go to courthouse before I go home appear, and either plead guilty or not guilty. (st. Clair County)
The police advised me that it is a max 500.00 fine (same as bond that I posted) and up to 90 days in jail, however that wont happen is what they said. After readeing and reading I noticed that you could have your drivers lisence suspended for 180 days? is that only in michigan? I am an illinois resident. I also wasnt driving at the time of the arrest.
i do have a previous conviction for delivery of a controlled substance which was compleated in 1998. (Illinois) 90 days work release, 9 months stayed. 3 years of probation.
During probation I turned 21 and got a DUI. Pled out and got more comunity service along with lisence suspension.
I did get arrested another time for posession of Marjuanna...charged under local ordinace in Illinois. Was issued a 150.00 fine 90 days court supervision. (Illinois)
Now the other day I was in Michigan and I got arrested and charged with local ordinace Illinois and Michigan laws are very differant. I know I need an attorney, but looking for comunity feedback on this as well. I assume that I am inelegable for the xx-xx statute for michiganfor first time offenders. I am a first time offender in Michigan.
What do you think?
thanks in advance
